New packages: pharmaceutical - Prevacid NapraPAC - Brief Article

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved TAP Pharmaceutical Products Inc.'s Prevacid NapraPAC--a single prescription containing two widely used medications. Prevacid NapraPAC contains the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) Naprosyn (naproxen tablets) and the acid suppressor Prevacid (lansoprazole)--a commonly prescribed proton-pump inhibitor--in one convenient package.

Prevacid NapraPAC reduces the risk of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers in patients who have a history of ulcers, and who use an NSAID for rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.

Prevacid NapraPAC is available as a daily dose of one Prevacid 15- milligram delayed release capsule and two Naprosyn tablets of either 375 mg or 500 mg. A monthly course of Prevacid NapraPAC is conveniently supplied in a paperboard carton, supplied by MeadWestvaco, that holds individually sleeved blister cards. Each blister card, which contains seven days of medication, indicates which pills to take on which days--an important convenience for patients. Consumers press a color-coded button on the easy-to-open package while pulling a tab that releases the blister card from its protective paperboard sleeve. Prevacid NapraPAC cards also provide clear and simple usage directions. The package meets the Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) criteria for child resistance.
